Our roots
Our story began with courage, hard work, and purpose.
We grew from simple, genuine roots, built on vision and an entrepreneurial spirit that always reminds us of where we came from and where we want to go. This is the story of a Group that takes pride in its journey and the way it was built.
It was in the 80s, in the heart of Portugal, under the skies of Meirinhas, that eighteen-year-old Avelino Gaspar acquired his first flock of three hundred chicks. An annex next to his parents' house became the unlikely cradle of a major Group.
The first step towards a greater ambition was taken, and little by little, the dream took shape, built a team, and defined a path. A few years later, the ambition gained structure: Lusiaves was born. In Marinha das Ondas, with the first slaughterhouse, a decisive step was taken to grow with quality and vision.
From then on, growth was achieved with responsibility, continuous investment in facilities, technology, and people, and maximum rigor in Quality and Food Safety—a culture of trust and doing things well, every single day.
