How does Grupo Lusiaves promote sustainability and reduce its environmental footprint?

The Lusiaves Group promotes sustainability through efficient resource management and by adding value to the by-products generated by its operations, reintegrating them into other stages of the production process in line with a circular economy model.

This commitment is reflected in concrete indicators. Currently, 68% of the energy consumed by the Group comes from renewable sources, with a 21% reduction in emissions since 2022 and a 25% decrease in groundwater extraction.

In parallel, the Group invests in the installation of solar panels, develops organic farming practices, and ensures rigorous waste management, reinforcing its environmentally responsible approach.

In what year was the Lusiaves Group founded?

The Lusiaves Group story began on April 14, 1986, in Marinha das Ondas, at the initiative of its founder, Avelino Gaspar. What started as a project with a team of just 32 employees has, over the decades, grown into the current leader of the poultry and agri-food sector in Portugal and a benchmark across the Iberian Peninsula.
