On June 16th, Grupo Lusiaves and the Leiria Region Local Health Unit (ULS) signed a cooperation agreement aimed at transforming prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment capabilities in the Leiria region. The signing ceremony, held at the ULS facilities, was attended by the President and Founder of Grupo Lusiaves, Comendador Avelino Gaspar, the Leiria Hospital Administration, represented by the Chairman of the Board, Dr. Manuel Carvalho, and the Municipality of Leiria, represented by Councilwoman Ana Margarida Valentim.

The newly signed protocol provides for direct support from Grupo Lusiaves in the acquisition of state-of-the-art medical equipment to serve the local population accessing Leiria Hospital services. This technology will enable earlier diagnoses, less invasive interventions, and more effective treatments for one of the most prevalent types of cancer among Portuguese men.

During the event, Comendador Avelino Gaspar reinforced the Group's commitment to the community: “If we have the capacity to help, we have the responsibility to do so.” His remarks reflected a philosophy of corporate social responsibility that goes far beyond legal obligations. “We believe that business success must go hand in hand with social well-being. This partnership is a concrete way of giving back to society a portion of what it provides to us.”

In turn, Dr. Manuel Carvalho, President of the Leiria Region ULS, highlighted the importance of this public-private partnership: “This protocol is a clear example of how the business sector can be an essential ally in building a more efficient, humanized, and accessible healthcare system.”
