The Lusiaves Group formalized a collaboration agreement with the Portuguese Firefighters League during a ceremony held on May 14th at the Group's headquarters in Leiria. The initiative reinforces the Group's commitment to prevention, safety, training, and support for the communities where it operates.

The session was attended by the Chairman of the Lusiaves Group, Avelino Gaspar, the President of the Portuguese Firefighters League, António Nunes, the Mayor of Leiria, Gonçalo Lopes, as well as representatives from civil protection institutions and commanders from various fire departments.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Lusiaves Group emphasized that this agreement stems from a "deep sense of responsibility and mission," highlighting that firefighters are an essential structure for public safety, yet they require support, resources, and renewal to continue meeting the country's growing challenges.

According to Avelino Gaspar, this partnership represents "a direct investment in our country's human capital" and a clear sign of the Lusiaves Group's commitment to prevention, safety, and community support.

The agreement provides a financial incentive for Lusiaves Group employees who wish to join or strengthen the active firefighting force, as well as facilitating their availability to serve their respective departments. The measure also covers employees who are already active volunteer firefighters, recognizing their availability, operational experience, and ongoing commitment to their communities through a monthly incentive. This dynamic extends to the fire departments themselves, which also receive financial support linked to these employee-firefighters, helping to strengthen their operational capacity, promote continuous training, and encourage the involvement of all parties.

This is a win-win relationship for the firefighters, the Lusiaves Group employees, and the communities, as it values those who serve, supports those who train, and protects those most in need. "If you have the courage to serve, your company will give you the time and the means to do so," the Lusiaves Group Chairman stated, addressing the employees.

This project began over a year ago with the goal of training internal firefighters, and it already includes more than 60 employees in training. In the year that the Lusiaves Group celebrates its 40th anniversary, this initiative takes on special significance, especially in a context where the region has felt the impact of extreme weather events, such as the recent storm, very closely.

During the ceremony, Avelino Gaspar also expressed his appreciation to the Mayor of Leiria and the civil protection officials for their work in supporting the population and in the reconstruction process following the recent severe weather that hit the region.

To the commanders and firefighters present, the Lusiaves Group Chairman expressed his gratitude for their example, leadership, and availability, emphasizing that the knowledge and experience of the fire departments will be fundamental in transforming the employees' willingness into effective operational capacity.

With this agreement, the Lusiaves Group reinforces its mission to help prepare for the future, demonstrating that protecting people, territories, and communities is a shared responsibility among public institutions, associations, companies, and citizens.
