SGS ICS, a leading multinational in certification services, brought together an unprecedented international consensus to establish this standard. By awarding it to Lusiaves, they have helped the company strengthen rigorous control over all production processes, ensure greater transparency among all food chain operators, and facilitate interactive communication between all stakeholders, right up to the final consumer.

The implementation of the NP EN ISO 22000 standard at Lusiaves was quick and effective, as the company already held NP EN ISO 9001 certification, ensuring greater compatibility between the new standard and the existing structure.

Carlos Caldeira, a member of the Lusiaves Board of Directors and responsible for coordinating and managing the Quality and Food Safety Management System, acknowledges that adopting the NP EN ISO 22000 framework is essential for any company aiming to maintain interactive communication with clients and, by extension, the final consumer.

“Given the growing crises that have affected our sector—first nitrofuran and now avian flu—customers are looking for safe food produced by companies that guarantee quality and trust. Lusiaves is attentive to this, which is why we have organized ourselves internally to strengthen the control of hazards resulting from our internal processes. We are also committed to a clearer and more integrated communication plan, both internally and externally. Today, we are confident that we are producing better than ever with lower risk,” he explains.

The application of this standard is part of the food safety policy that Lusiaves has always prioritized, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring the safety and quality of its products throughout the food chain, right up to final consumption.
