Titled “Quality that Respects Life,” this conference marked a significant milestone for the Lusiaves Group, reflecting its commitment to excellence and responsibility.

On June 4th, Lusiaves Group professionals, alongside distinguished representatives from key organizations such as DGAV, the Portuguese Nutrition Association, Portugal Foods, AENOR, and AVEC, gathered for a meeting dedicated to the regulation, certification, and compliance assurance of processes in national poultry production.

At Quinta da Concha, Comendador Avelino Gaspar, Founder and President of the Lusiaves Group, opened the event by highlighting the importance of sustainability and responsibility in the agri-food sector. “In our daily work, doing well is not enough! We must act with responsibility, always keeping our focus on process quality and animal welfare,” he emphasized, issuing a clear call for high standards and commitment to the principles that guide the Group’s operations.

The opening session also featured an address by the Director General of DGAV, Susana Pombo, who brought issues regarding animal welfare and its importance in the food chain to the stage. This was followed by several presentations that not only complemented the topics under discussion but also promoted knowledge sharing, encouraged new dialogues around innovative practices, strengthened new alliances, and contributed to greater public awareness of the work being done in the poultry sector.

One of the highlights of the conference was the Round Table, moderated by Nuno Brito, Researcher and Full Professor. The discussion brought together Pedro Ferreira, Dina Fernandes, and Carlos Caldeira for a debate on strategies for a culture of animal welfare and how to mobilize teams toward a common mission.

The conference was closed by Fernando Moreira, Administrator and Veterinarian at the Lusiaves Group.
